Hello SoaringNV Fan Club,

So much of this business is a learning experience, and this blogging job is yet another new to-do item to fit into the uneven rhythm of hangar life. So many interesting little news-worthy things happen each day, that I think I may become a chronicler of minutiae for the sound bite generation. (This is where I start thinking in bullets. )

Our inaugural cross-country event was a hit. We had many of the SoaringNV faithful, plus a few new faces here for the five days of camp. Each day featured a detailed weather briefing by Fred LaSor, a trace review of a prior days' flight by Gavin Wills, and a brief lecture on a topic-of-the-day. Thank you Rick Walters for speaking on Speeds to Fly, McCreedy, and Getting out of the Valley, Bob Semans for a presentation on turnpoints and badge flying, Gordon Boettger on his 2000 Km wave flight, and Doug Armstrong on the weather.

We learned many things about running a cross-country event that we forward into next year. Any suggestions are welcome.

If you have not already, sign-up for our mailing list. We send out newsletters at odd intervals--mostly when we have something important to say. This is easily done by visiting our website: SoaringNV.com, and clicking on 'Join our e-mail list'.

We are still deciding what to do this winter. Stay tuned for a change in hours....

Signing off for now,
Glider Girl.
