We had a fun event this past Monday -- a different kind of diamond. Usually we celebrate flights that result in a distance or altitude diamond badge, but Monday it was a diamond ring that we celebrated!
It all started several days before when we got a telephone call from Mike Scott to reserve one of our rides. "It's my girlfriend's birthday, and I want to give her a ride for a present," he told us. We think that's just a great idea -- if you give your girlfriend a bouquet of flowers she'll remember for a year or so, but if you give her the first glider ride she's ever taken, she'll remember forever!
But when the lucky couple arrived to celebrate her birthday with their first ever glider ride we learned that Mike had also just popped the question that morning and they were engaged! So we celebrated a birthday AND an engagement in the same flight. A fun (and memorable) time was had by all, including Fred, who piloted the happy couple in the Schweizer 2-32.
Congratulations, Alessandra and Mike. We're sure you'll remember the day the rest of your lives!
Fred
